Favourite version of The Joker?
Mark Hamill’s Joker Period. No other actor has portrayed and defined The Joker so well as Mark Hamill has. He has been the definitive voice of the Joker for the past 20 years and has portrayed him More than any other actor. From the widely popular Batman: The Animated Series all the way to video games like Batman: Arkham Asylum and DC Universe Online.
Heath Ledger’s Joker was Brilliant In Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Having excellent mannerisms and being creepy as hell to help bring the joker to life. However Mark Hamil’s version of Joker is creepy, funny, sadistic, silly, and smart all at the same time and he does it all with just his voice!
Also it hard to talk about Hamil’s Joker without mentioning His laugh. Its intoxicating and contagious and brings a smile to my face every time I hear it. Hamill referred to the Joker’s laugh as being like a musical instrument and to help express the Joker’s mood. It what helps make his joker so darn good!
I remember wanting to be Luke Skywalker growing, and then when I found out that the same actor also portrayed my favorite bad guy ever, I remember it having the feeling that it made my childhood so much better. From that moment on I’ve had so much respected for Mark Hamill and I owe so much of my childhood to him. I cant imagine a world without him playing the Joker!
